From the Apothecary is a private, hands-on herbal incense crafting workshop brought directly to you. Over the course of two hours, your group will journey into the rich history and traditions of aromatic plants, explore the stories and smoke lore that have made incense a beloved practice across cultures for thousands of years, and craft their own personalized herbal incense cones to take home.
No experience necessary. Just curiosity, good company, and a table to gather around.
What to Expect
Your plant guide, Michelle Spalding, Clinical Herbalist and Holistic Coach, arrives with everything needed for a warm, immersive, and beautifully curated experience. Your guests will spend time exploring the history and plant lore behind a curated selection of aromatic herbs, then put their hands to work crafting two batches of their own personalized incense cones using the plants and materials Michelle brings from the Wild Thistle apothecary.
Every guest leaves with their own handcrafted incense, along with a recipe and instructions to make more at home.
The experience lasts approximately two hours from start to finish, including instruction, plant exploration, and hands-on crafting.

What You Need to Provide
Just the space and the people. Michelle brings all materials, supplies, and table coverings. Your group needs a table or tables with seating to accommodate participants comfortably. Setup and cleanup are both quick and easy.

Michelle Spalding is a Clinical Herbalist and Holistic Coach with years of training in herbalism and holistic healing. She is the founder of Wild Thistle Herbs & Alchemy, a teaching space and apothecary in Waco, TX, dedicated to connecting people with the plant world through education, community, and craft. Michelle brings a warm, grounded approach to every gathering, making the world of herbs feel approachable, meaningful, and deeply enjoyable.
